By default, the Uplevel Gateway failover works by sending a health check probe to three separate health check servers in our cloud every second. If no answer from any server is received for three consecutive seconds, the WAN management determines that the primary internet link is down and switches to the secondary internet connection. Our WAN manager, on the other hand, continues to send health check probes along to the primary internet connection, and if at least one answer is received, WAN switches back to the primary internet.
We can adjust the time between each check for clients that have LTE back up connections with small data plans.
